Record rainfall events and flooding across NSW couldn’t dampen our spirits as we set off to explore the best eats on the NSW South Coast.

Dulcie's Cottage - Merimbula

In Merimbula, Dulcie's is a charming spot known for its delectable burgers. They offer a mouthwatering burger menu crafted by Dan Pepperell, featuring brisket, chuck, rump, and secret sauce. This is where they serve 600 burgers a day.

"Myffy with Dulcie's owners Diane and Kirsty."

Valentina - Merimbula

Lose yourself in the romance of draped linen, neutral tones, natural wines and exquisite dishes at the whimsical waterside wonder that is Valentina.

Honorbread - Bermagui

Tim and Honor Northam’s passion project, now a purpose built space baking delicious sourdough goods for locals and tourists alike from their charming storefront – and spreading the artisan love with wholesale across the region.

Hyden's Pies - Ulladulla

A discarded, half-eaten pie on the fence outside the Marlin Hotel in Ulladulla was the inspiration for Hayden and his Dad to open a local pie shop. With lines down the street and around the corner, they now sell up to 3,000 pies a day – and not a half-eaten pie in sight.

Bangalay Dining - Shoalhaven Heads

At Bangalay Dining, they serve tri-tip steak cooked to perfection with native Warrigal Greens and pepper berry sauce. Meanwhile, Blue Swimmer in Gerringong offers harissa-glazed lamb ribs, emphasizing local produce and unique flavors.

Ponte Bar and Dining - Nowra

The menu reflects Brazilian heritage, featuring dishes cooked over a Brazilian barbecue flame. Two highlighted dishes are a char-grilled barbecue-flamed lamb rump and a rump cap steak, both served with flavorful accompaniments like caponata, roasted vegetables, polenta chips, and chimichurri sauce.

The Blue Swimmer - Gerroa

Blue Swimmer is a cafe emphasizing locally sourced ingredients. Rigby samples harissa-glazed lamb ribs and macadamia, highlighting the cafe's commitment to regional flavors.

The Hill Kitchen and Bar - Gerringong

The journey continues to Gerringong, where The Hill, a family-owned restaurant, takes the spotlight. They emphasize their fourth-generation ties to the area and their use of locally sourced produce in their dishes.

Ain't Nonna's - Wollongong

In Wollongong, Ain't Nonna's provides a more relaxed take on traditional Italian cuisine. Their classic polpette (meatballs) feature red angus beef from NSW and Vannella burrata, served with a rich sugo and gremolata.

This culinary journey along the NSW South Coast explores the diverse and delicious culinary offerings of the region, from mouthwatering burgers and pies to farm-to-table excellence and Italian-inspired cuisine. Each eatery tells a unique story, showcasing the rich flavors and traditions that make the South Coast a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.
